The Connect, powered by Kenergy, fiber-to-the-home network has reached 15,000 subscribers across the cooperative’s service area, marking a key step in efforts to expand high-speed internet access in western Kentucky.
The network, built through a partnership between Kenergy and Conexon Connect, now consists of more than 4,000 fiber miles, bringing reliable, high-speed internet access to parts of Hancock County and the surrounding region. As construction continues, additional communities throughout Kenergy’s service area are expected to gain access to fiber internet service.
The growing subscriber base reflects continued expansion of fiber infrastructure aimed at closing the digital divide in underserved communities.
“We are proud to reach another significant milestone and continue to focus on delivering high-speed internet to our members,” said Tim Lindahl, Kenergy president and CEO. “Connectivity has become a necessity in our everyday lives. Thank you to our members for continuing to trust us on this project.”
The project is designed to deliver a fiber network that can handle growing demand for streaming, remote work and other high-bandwidth uses, giving cooperative members a faster, more dependable option than many existing rural internet services.
“This milestone represents more than 15,000 connections. It represents thousands of neighbors, families and businesses that now have access to the opportunities reliable broadband makes possible,” said Randy Klindt, Conexon founding partner and Conexon Connect co-CEO. “As we continue expanding the network, we remain committed to ensuring every Kenergy member has access to the fast, reliable fiber internet service they need today and for years to come.”
Since launching the initiative, Conexon Connect has focused on building an all-fiber network designed to provide reliable, high-speed internet to homes and businesses across Kenergy’s footprint. The company says rising demand for its service demonstrates how essential broadband has become for remote work, telehealth, online education and streaming.
Conexon Connect operates as the fiber-to-home internet service provider formed and managed by Conexon. The company partners primarily with electric cooperatives and communities, using existing infrastructure to deliver 100% fiber broadband service. It operates in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri.
Kenergy and Conexon Connect plan to continue expanding fiber internet access with the goal of reaching all cooperative members.
