Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Announces Lane Closures on Westbound U.S. 60

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 2 announced that lane closures on the westbound lanes of U.S. 60 in Hancock County will begin this week, and starting on Monday, September 22nd. The corrective work is part of ongoing efforts to address issues from the recent U.S. 60 widening project.
The contractor will carry out repairs on the road shoulder and median between KY 1957 (mile marker 4.79) and Nugent Lane (mile marker 9.35). These repairs will require various lane restrictions and closures as the work progresses. Motorists are urged to stay alert and observe all traffic control signage in the work zone.
This westbound lane work follows corrective repairs already underway on the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60, which started last week and are expected to continue through November. The westbound corrective work is expected to be completed by Friday, October 10th.
KYTC reminds drivers to plan for possible delays and exercise caution when traveling through the construction areas in Hancock County.
For ongoing updates on lane restrictions and road work in District 2, motorists can follow KYTC District 2 on Facebook or visit the KYTC website.
This project is part of KYTC’s statewide efforts to improve roadway safety, reliability and travel conditions. The U.S. 60 widening project has been a major infrastructure upgrade for Hancock County, aiming to enhance traffic flow and safety on this key corridor. The lane closures and corrective work ensure long-term durability of the improvements made.
