Blackford Baptist Church to Celebrate 200 Years

Blackford Baptist Church plans to celebrate its 200th anniversary on Sunday, September 28th. The day’s festivities include a worship service, a potluck lunch, fellowship and music featuring Brother Brian Adkins and his group, with Kenny Roberts on piano, Ryan Payne on guitar and Meagan Harrison on drums, and the dedication of our newly built pavilion.
​Blackford Baptist Church is the oldest church in Hancock County. It was established in 1825, with 25 members. This was four years before the Hancock County Courthouse was built in 1829. Thomas Newton was its first pastor.
The church has been a beacon on the hill through the years. It has been known as a people who loved God and loved each other. Services start at 10:30 a.m., lunch will be served around noon, with fellowship and music to follow.
