Tennis players fall in regional tourney

The HCHS tennis teams’ seasons came to an end following losses in the regional tournament played at the Owensboro Tennis Center Saturday.
Preston Blanton lost to Jack Haines of Owensboro High School 6-3, 6-1. Caleb Ewing lost 6-0, 6-0 to Stetson Osborne of Apollo.
In doubles action, Lukas Anderson and Alex Madden fell 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 to the Stull/Collard team from Meade County. Kyle Anderson and Tre London fell 6-2, 6-0 to Hambrick/Whitaker of Muhlenberg County.
In girls play, Ella Chappell lost 6-2, 6-0 to Carsyn Cecil of OHS. Chiara Landes fell 6-3, 6-2 to Anna Travis of OHS.

Kylie Bowlds and Audree Morris fell 6-2, 6-3 to Latham/Teague of Muhlenberg County.
“It was a disappointing end to the season,” HCHS coach Dan Hopkins said. “It was a tough draw and I don’t think anyone played really well, although I think the girls competed better as a whole.
“I’m not really shocked because our strength is our depth, and in this format we’re playing the other team’s best players. It also didn’t help that one of our best players, Tyce Boling, is in the hospital and was unable to play.
“But it was a good year and I’m proud of how all our kids developed. If they work hard in the off-season there’s no reason we can’t expect great things next year.”
