Estes hits two inside-the-park, Waltrip smashes grand slam

The Lady Hornets offense was in full display during a 16-1 win over Breckinridge County in a varsity softball game played in Hardinsburg on Wednesday, May 1.
An RBI single by Ella House put Hancock County ahead 1-0 in the first inning. The score was unchanged until the third.
A home run, four triples and a double later and the score was 10-0. Baylee Estes got it all going with a triple, then finished off the inning with an inside-the-park homer.
Jordyn Waltrip belted a grand slam home run in the fourth and Estes followed with another inside-the-park home run. The score was 16-0 when Breck County plated their lone run in the home half of the inning. The game was called via run rule.
Lily Roberts got the win on the mound while allowing no runs on no hits, with six Ks and no walks over three perfect innings. Bella Bryant allowed one run on two hits, with two Ks and one walk in one inning of relief. Ashlyn White took the loss for Breck County.
Estes was 4 for 4 with two home runs, a triple and three RBI. Waltrip was 2 for 3 with the slam, a triple and five RBI. Layni Roberts was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, Ella House was 2 for 4 with one RBI, Emmalynn Higdon was 1 for 2 with a triple and one RBI, Audrey Carnes was 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI, and Lily Roberts was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Carolina Jones, Ava Riggs and Aubree Mosby all scored a run. Bryant had one RBI.
Tell City
Lily Roberts had 14 strike outs and the Lady Hornets won 7-2 over the Lady Marksmen at Tell City last Thursday.
Higdon singled a run home in the first inning when Riggs scored from third base.
Roberts struck out the side in the first two innings. Lily then doubled in a run in the third before Layni Roberts followed with an RBI double to make the score 3-0.
Two Lady Hornet errors set the table for a 2-run double by B. Hayko in the fourth. Roberts pitched her way out of trouble with two more strike outs.
Bryant delivered an RBI hit in the sixth that made the score 4-2. Hancock County plated three insurance runs in the sixth before Higdon recorded the final out in right field in the seventh. Roberts got the win on the mound while allowing two runs (none earned) on four hits, with 14 Ks and two walks over seven frames. H. Mechels took the loss for Tell City.
Lily Roberts was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Layni Roberts was 1 for 2 with a double and one RBI. House and Estes were both 2 for 4, Waltrip and Bryant (RBI) both were 1 for 2, Higdon was 1 for 4 with one RBI, and Riggs scored a run and knocked in a run.
