The Green River Area Wellness Mission, an Innovative Readiness Training program led by the Air National Guard, is returning to the region this June. Military medical personnel will provide free basic health care services to the public during the multi-day mission.
The Hancock County Fiscal Court and Hancock County Senior Services are offering free transportation for all ages on Tuesday, June 16. Buses will leave the Hancock County Senior Center at 8:30 a.m., with pickup at Subway in Lewisport at 8:45 a.m. Riders will travel to the mission site at North Middle School in Henderson and be brought back afterward.
Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. If you have questions, call 270-927-8313. An alternate transportation day is set for June 19, if needed.
Appointment times are on a first-come, first-served basis. Wait times are to be expected.
The mission offers general medical and wellness services at no cost, with services provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees should plan for possible wait times. Services offered are basic medical and wellness exams, vision exams, prescription glasses fabrication, dental services, hearing exams, mental health outreach and sports physicals.
Anyone may attend on those Henderson clinic days, whether riding the bus or driving themselves. Those who choose to drive should allow extra time for parking and check for any last-minute updates on the mission’s schedule before they leave.
Hours of operation at North Middle School, 1707 Second St., in Henderson, are June 11-21. Clinic hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19, and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. June 13, 14, 20 and 21. No identification is required, and services are available to ages 3 and older regardless of income or residency.
