After a short break, the Hancock County Airport Open House returns on Saturday, October 9. The airport is located at 500 Airport Road in Lewisport, close to Commonwealth Rolled Products.
The highlight of the open house is free flights from the Young Eagles program for kids age 8 to 17. Over the years, hundreds of kids have taken a free flight with the Young Eagles program.
The kids receive a certificate stating they received the free flight, and their name is also entered in the young Eagle flight book located in Oshkosh, WI.
In a change from years past, kids interested in taking a flight must preregister online by October 7 at 6 p.m. The website is: youngeagles.org?2596
For persons lacking Internet access at home, go to either library location in the county and ask the staff to help with preregistration. Or, call Gary Wilcox at 270.315.4601.
In addition to the free flights, other activities include a bouncy house for the little kids. Also, food and drinks will be available. Keep the date open and come on out for a day of fun!
