The 35th Annual Lewisport Heritage Festival

Heritage Festival

The 35th Annual Lewisport Heritage Festival will be held in downtown Lewisport on Thursday, May 30th through Saturday, June 1st. Many local food trucks and beverage vendors will be set up with a variety of delicious offerings. A large turnout is expected, and there are bands playing each day of the festival, with 2 bands to enjoy on Saturday.

Thursday

On Thursday, May 30th, the festival will begin at 5:30 p.m., with words from Mayor Chad Gregory at Chapman Park. Next, a Flag Ceremony will be administered by Hancock County VFW Post 5186, followed by an Opening Prayer by Brother Brian Adkins of Central Baptist Church at 5:45 p.m.

The Heritage Festival Princess, Miss Teen & Miss Lewisport Pageant starts at 6 p.m. Bluegrass Rides open at 6:30 p.m. Arm Bracelets are $20. Possum Pickers will be filling the air with sweet bluegrass music from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Friday

Rides open at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31st, and the Heritage Festival Pageant (Tiny Miss/Mister, Little Miss/Mister & Junior Miss) at Chapman Park begins at 6 p.m. Dan Hall & The Blackford Creek Band will play country/rock music from 7:30-10 p.m., that is inspired by greats like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings.

Saturday

On Saturday, June 1st, there will be food and events all day and into the night. Sunshine Circle Homemakers will serve Breakfast at the Lewisport Community Center from 8-10 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk on 4th St. & Market St. is from 8-10 a.m. as well.

The Baby Contest at Chapman Park begins at 9 a.m., and there will be Kids Games from 9-11 a.m. (if weather permits). The Fire Department Open House is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Antique Tractor Pull begins at 10 a.m. at the Lewisport Community Center. The Antique Tractor Show & Drive is at 11 a.m., with Judging at 3 p.m., and the Tractor Drive/Parade is at 4 p.m. The Car Show & Cruise-In begins at 4:00 p.m. as well.

The Pet Show at Chapman Park begins at 3 p.m., the Craft Show begins at 4 p.m., and the Talent Contest starts at 6:15 p.m. Two great bands will play on Saturday! Josh Merritt Band will play from 4:00-6:00 p.m., and Cody Lohden plays from 7:30-10:00 p.m. The Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

Bird House Building Contest

Free bird house building kits will be available for pick up at Lewisport City Hall. Bird houses for the Kids’ Bird House Building Contest can be turned in at the Hancock County Farm Museum on Saturday, June 1st by 3 p.m. Judging with prizes will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Farm Museum.
