Mary Edith Powell

Mary Edith Powell, 94, of Owensboro, put on her eternal dancing shoes on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport, Kentucky. She was born January 20, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late William N. Laney and Mary Phillips Laney. Mary was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. She was the owner of Ceramic Barn for 12 years. Mary enjoyed sewing, dancing, Bingo and Bunco.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Powell; son, William R. Powell; daughter, Edith Marie Goetz; and a brother, B.F. Laney.

She is survived by a daughter, Kate Payton; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
