Kenneth Oliver Petrie Jr., 77, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Flagler Beach, Florida. Born on
October 21, 1948, he was the son of Kenneth Oliver Petrie Sr. and Nelda Lou Holliday. He was
raised in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, with the loving support of his grandmother, Mae Holliday,
alongside his sisters, Kathy (George) Waite and Kandy Petrie.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Ken proudly served in the military throughout the Vietnam
War and remained a devoted veteran and patriot throughout his life, carrying with him a deep
sense of duty and love for his country.
Ken was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Bette, whom he loved unconditionally.
Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment, raising their two
daughters, Sage (Jason) Young and Jalee (Daniel) Roberts, who were the pride and joy of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Ken spent much of his life in rural Kentucky, where he found joy in
hunting, fishing, and wandering in the woods. Following his retirement from Weyerhauser paper
mill, he and Bette moved to Florida, where they lived life to the fullest, making lasting
friendships and countless cherished memories together.
Ken was a proud grandfather to Lane Holliday (Drew Adkins), Ike Tongate, Blair Roberts, and
Jadan Roberts, and a great-grandfather to Graham Cox, Marcella Cox, and Kennedy Adkins. His
family was his greatest legacy, and he took immense pride in each of them.
He will be remembered as the epitome of a good man. Ken had a gift for storytelling and a way
of bringing people together, often becoming the life of the party wherever he went. His warmth,
humor, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

    Ken, Was a StoreTailer, I remember the 1st time I met him, It was still Willamette Inds. And he was Telling Bill Powers and Myself about building his home in Easton, and his 1st Winter. He had not completed any Indoor Plumbing! And he needed to take a Bath, so he went down to the Creek below his home, Broke the Ice, and took a Bath, Bill Powers, said how did you do that ?!!!, Ken said , REAL QUICK!
