Incumbent Gregory Faces Challenger Miller in Lewisport’s Mayoral Race

Lewisport Mayor Chad Gregory began his first term in 2005, and is running for re-election. His challenger, Eddie Miller, is running to serve as Lewisport Mayor because he said he thinks it is time for a change.
Gregory said his mission is to continue to keep the City of Lewisport in sound financial shape, and to try to keep rates sustainable for its citizens. Miller said his main goal is to take care of the people of Lewisport, and help the people of Lewisport.

“My mission is also to keep the City of Lewisport safe,” Gregory said, “and to let the citizens live their everyday lives, and not have to worry about a shaky government. I want to keep rates as low as we can, and still run a profitable business. I don’t want people to have to worry about what their rates are going to be, because I’m going to try to keep them as sustainable as it can be for them.”
He expressed how seamlessly he and the Lewisport City Council members and all of the City’s employees are able to work together. He also said that everyone on the City of Lewisport team is of the highest caliber; Everyone involved is dedicated to running the city with the utmost integrity, and they truly care about the citizens in the community.
He added, “We have a great city council; They are excellent to work with. They trust me, and I trust them. They trust me to run the City of Lewisport, day to day. The employees are top-notch. They know what is expected of me, and they know what their everyday function is.”
Eddie Miller
Eddie Miller has lived in Lewisport for 15 years, and has taught martial arts in the county for almost 20 years. His wife, Sona, is a Guidance Counselor at North Hancock Elementary School. They are blessed with one son, Nic Miller.
“We’ve been here for a long time, and in the county for almost 40 years,” Eddie said. “I taught Kasho Martial Arts at Lewisport Elementary School and South Hancock Elementary School. I’ve helped out at Hancock County High School with senior projects, when they’ve had martial arts students. I’ve been a Cook at the HOP Shops Truck Stop in Lewisport for the last 3 years.”
He expressed that he plans on putting the people of Lewisport before the “bank account,” and wants funding to be spent in helping the people of Lewisport.
“I’m running for mayor, as a frustrated citizen who has had enough,” he added. “I believe the people of Lewisport deserve to be treated better by their mayor. I would appreciate your vote, because it’s time for a change. I have experience with people. I’m not a politician, I’m just a frustrated citizen. I’m giving the people a choice. It’s time they have a choice, for a change. I plan on taking care of the city like it should be taken care of. We have three bars in this town, and not one thing for anybody under 21 to do. That has to be changed. We’re going to have to find something for people under 21 to do in this town. As soon as they get their license, they’re gone from Lewisport because there is nothing here for them. I want them to want to stay, and raise their own families here. This is a nice town. We need lots of things for the people to do; there’s no place to go anymore. I also plan on taking better care of the roads during the wintertime.”
