City Council Approves $8 Million in Funding for New Water Plant

City Clerk Carrie Dixon reported that the Hometown Heroes Campaign is moving forward successfully, with 30 banners to be displayed downtown in November in honor of Veterans Day.

Morton Lane Lift Station

Matt Curtis from Bluegrass Engineering addressed an oversight in the Morton Lane lift station bid. Luttrell & Sons agreed to cover 50% of the cost for a control panel and to waive labor fees for installation. The city will cover an additional $7,700.

Funding for Water Plant

The Council approved $6 million in funding for a new water plant, along with an additional $2 million in supplementary funding.

Ad Valorem Tax Ordi nance The first reading of the ad valorem tax ordinance #24-06 was presented by Charlie Kamuf. Security System Upgrades Mayor Gregory proposed upgrading security systems at the Police Department, City Hall, and Water Plant. Den ton Security was selected to handle the project due to a lower bid.

Credit Card Update

The city will update its credit cards, switching from the current provider to First Financial.

Trick or Treat Date

Trick or Treating in Lewisport has been set for Thursday, October 31, from 5-8 p.m.

Pumpkins in the Park Event

City Administrator Ja son Roberts announced that the band “77 Experience” will perform at Pumpkins in the Park on October 19. Food trucks are confirmed, and pumpkins will be provided by Steve Ogle Farms.

Public Works and Police Updates

Public Works is busy with Conexon fiber installations, pressure station rebuilds, and mosquito spraying. The Police Department handled 127 cadded calls this month, and officers recently completed fi re arms training. Fire Department Financials The fire department’s financial statements were approved.

Mayor Gregory announced the theme for this year’s Christ mas Parade: “Country Christmas.
