2023 Stuff the Bus Event – July 22nd at HCMS
The 3rd Annual Stuff the Bus Event will be held at Hancock County Middle School on Saturday, July 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Family Resource Coordinators from each school will be set-up in front of HCMS, along with a bus with Stuff the Bus signage visible from Hwy 60 to receive donated school supplies.
This is a great opportunity to donate items that will be helpful to students at all 4 of Hancock County’s schools, and is organized by Lacey Mosby, Family Resource Coordinator (FRC) at North Hancock Elementary, Jamie Stephens, FRC at South Hancock Elementary and Laura Kessans, FRC for HCMS & HCHS.
School Supplies to Donate
Items that can be donated include: Fiskars Scissors, pencil boxes, Elmer’s Glue Sticks, pencil pouches (3-ring), folders (3-prong), earbuds, folders (solid colors, 3-hole), headphones, spiral notebooks (1-subject & solid colors), eraser pencil tops, composition notebooks (wide-ruled & college-ruled), Crayola Crayons (24-pack), binders (1-inch & 3-ring w/ plastic cover), Crayola Colored Pencils, #2 pencils and Crayola Markers.
Monetary Donations
If you don’t have time to purchase and donate items, a check can be dropped off instead. Checks can be made out to: Hancock County Family Resource and Youth Services Center.
Checks can also be mailed to the Hancock County Board of Education, in care of Director of Finance Trey Anderson, 83 State Route 3543, Hawesville, KY, 42348.
Registering Your Student
Information for registering your student(s) for a school supply bag will be mailed as a postcard to every family household with children in Hancock County Schools around early to mid-July, according to those enrolled from the past school year.
Registration information will also be posted on each of the schools’ Facebook pages, the FRC Facebook Page, the district pages and on Instagram. A link/QR Code can be scanned with your phone, which directs you to a Google form where you can register. It is entirely free and is available to all Hancock County students.
Before the first day of the new school year (Wednesday, August 9th), each school receives a list of students signed-up for school supplies and packs each supply bag according to their teacher’s list, and they are then given out.
Many factories in the county donate each year, as well as churches, non-profit organizations, businesses throughout the county and individuals. Roughly 500 Hancock County students receive school supplies thanks to their generosity every year, ensuring that students are prepared for the first day of school.
All donations are greatly appreciated.
