Lewisport Farmer’s Market opens Saturday, July 1st
The very first day of the new Lewisport Farmer’s Market begins on Saturday, July 1st, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at Chapman Park Pavilion in downtown Lewisport, and it is FREE to set-up.
“This is the first year for the new Farmer’s Market here in Lewisport,” Megan Simpson, Collections & Administrative Assistant at Lewisport City Hall said. “We are wanting anyone with fresh vegetables, fruits, baked goods or homemade items only, such as crafts, honey, plants, eggs, and canned goods. We would like for anyone that wants to participate to contact city hall ahead of time so we can advertise the items that will be available to help promote this!
We encourage farmers, big growers, as well as backyard gardeners who have extra produce, or those who enjoy crafting or canning! I would love this to encourage people to grow their own foods, as well as buying local. I’m hoping this will get the younger people interested and involved in home produced items. I am so passionate about farming and homemade items. My dream is for this to grow and be something everyone in the community looks forward to every week!”
In addition to Saturday, July 1st from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Lewisport Farmer’s Market will also be held on Monday, July 10th and Monday, July 24th, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on both days.
Please call Lewisport City Hall in advance if you’d like to participate in the Lewisport Farmer’s Market, so that the items you plan to sell can be advertised, which will help the City promote this new offering to the Hancock County Community. The number is: 270-295-3324, and Megan can answer any questions you may have as well. Lewisport City Hall is located at 405 Second Street.
THANK YOU MEGAN SIMPSON for all you are doing for Lewisport! You may not think people notice, but you are greatly appreciated by Lewisport residents.
