Volleyball girls win big on Senior Night

The HCHS Lady Hornets varsity volleyball team did not disappoint when they hosted their Senior Night games at the high school last week. Hancock County defeated McLean County in straight sets, winning 25-12, 26-24 and 25-17.

Several Lady Hornets players had big games, including Brooke Toler who had one kill, two assists, three service aces and 18 digs. During the games Toler, a senior, made her 1,000 career dig. The match was halted for a brief ceremony in which Toler was presented with a plaque to commemorate her accomplishment.

Sydney Kennedy played strong, collecting eight kills, with 10 assists and eight digs, and Maddisen Peck had eight kills, eight assists, one dig and two aces. Lauren Kellems had seven kills, one block and four aces, Ashlyn Madden had three kills, one block, two digs and one ace, Sophia Reed had 11 digs, Brianna Mooneyham had two kills and one dig, Lily Lindauer had seven digs and two aces, and Kennedy Desper had three kills.

Henderson County

Hancock County was not as fortunate during a match with powerful Henderson County on the road Thursday. The Lady Colonels won in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-23 and 25-12.

Kennedy had three kills, one block, two assists, four digs and two aces. Caroline Conner had three kills, one block, one assist and two digs, Toler had two kills and 12 digs, Reed had one kill, one assist and five digs, Addy Harrison had one assist, five digs and one block, Lindauer had one assist and three digs, Peck had one assist, one dig and one ace, Desper had one block and one dig,  Sarah Huff and Kellems had one kill each and Madden had one block.
