North Hancock Elementary musical draws large crowd

On Tuesday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m., North Hancock Elementary School Second & Third Grade students performed their musical “Dinner and Dessert” at the school. NHES Music Teacher and musical director, Kelly Martineau, said there was a great turn-out for the performance. This was their first time on stage and the students practiced many weeks to make the show a success.

“The Third grade performed On Top of Spaghetti, Pizza Love and The Pasta Song. Pizza Love featured Mckenzie Simpson as a Soloist and The Past Song featured Dallas French as a Soloist with Camryn Higdon,” Martineau said. “For the Second Grade portion, they did desserts and they sang I Want Candy with a dance with a lollipop. And for their last piece they did Jelly Bean Blues with Jaxon Caroll as a Soloist.”

Martineau said that all of the staff and fellow students are “extremely proud” of the second and third grades’ dedication to excellence in preparing for the show. She said that it would not have been possible without the help from: Erin Corley, Rebecca Evans, Heather Miller and Michael Swihart.

The next musical she has planned for NHES students is the Kindergarten Christmas Musical on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m. – “A Dinosaur Christmas.” They are excited to be able to start performing again now, as “Dinner and Dessert” is the first one they have had the opportunity to do in a couple of years. They haven’t taken the stage, she said, since March of 2020.
