Cross country runners place high at Madisonvilletc “Cross country”
The HCHS cross country teams competed in the Madisonville Classic Saturday at North Hopkins High.
Lexus Ralph placed fifth overall in the 5K race. Her time was 23:11. Izzy Ross was sixth in 23:21. They were the only two from Hancock County who competed in the varsity girls race.
Madisonville-North Hopkins runner Joy Alexander won with a time of 20:50.
The HCHS varsity boys team placed fifth with 121 total points.
Hunter Stephens led Hancock with an 11th place finish in a time of 18:37. Griffin DeJarnette was 29th in 22:11, Damion Basham 33rd in 22:55, Noah Henson 34th in 22:56, and Max DeJarnette 35th in 22:58.
Drew Burden of Madisonville-North Hopkins won in 16:51.
Webster County took the team title with 32 points.
Carolina Jones led the way for Hancock County in 2.5K middle school girls race. She completed the course in 10:30 for eighth place. Preslee Meserve was 18th in 11:34, Jayda Meserve 21st in 11:46, Lyla DeJarnette 23rd in 11:59, and Alyson Goodall 35th in 13:08.
Ellie Girten of Daviess County won in 9:17.
Daviess County won the team title with 16 points. Hancock County was second with 55 points.
Emmitt Meserve led Hancock in the boys middle school race. He placed seventh in 9:31 over 2.5K. Talon Singleton was 33rd in 11:23.
Austin Spurrier of Daviess County won in 8:32.
Ellen Meserve led Hancock in the girls elementary race. She placed second in 10:42. Oonagh DeJarnette was 14th in 12:45.
Lillian Kurz of Daviess won in 10:31.
Elias Meserve led Hancock in the boys elementary race. He was 11th in 10:35. Beckham DeJarnette was 17th in 12:05.
Easton Tong of Heritage Christian won in 9:31.
