Sheriff investigates three-vehicle collision

Hancock County Sheriff Dale Bozarth investigated a three-vehicle collision around 7:11 p.m., July 10, on the Century Aluminum access road just outside of Hawesville.

According to the report, Curtis Fox, 37, of Owensboro, was operating a 2012 Ford F150 eastbound, slowing as he approached a stop sign.

Fox was trailed by Matthew Thruman, 22, of Leitchfield, operating a 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

Thruman said as he was slowing behind the Fox vehicle, he heard the screeching of tires behind him and observed a vehicle approaching from the rear. Thruman said he could move out of the path of the vehicle.

Trevor Biddle, 21, of Utica, was operating 2014 Dodge Durango trailing the two other units. Biddle told Bozarth he was adjusting his radio while travelling down the access road, when he looked up and observed the slowed traffic. He applied his brakes, but was unable to avoid a collision.

Biddle’s vehicle struck the Thruman vehicle which was then pushed into the Fox vehicle. The vehicle sustained damage ranging from minor to moderately severe.
