Semi sideswipes truck
A pickup truck sustained damage in a sideswipe accident with a semi four miles west of Hawesville on state Route 334. The accident happened at approximately 10:15 p.m. on August 18. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Eugene Banton of Virginia went to pull his 1996 Kenworth semi from a parking spot, and misjudged the clearance between the semi and a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup parked beside him. As Banton pulled from the parking spot, the trailer of his semi hit the front end of the pickup truck.
The owner of the pickup truck is James Estes of Hawesville. His pickup sustained minor to moderate damage, but it did not require a tow. The semi sustained very minor damage, but remained in service.
Pickup sideswipes car
No one suffered injury when a pickup truck sideswiped a car in a parking lot four miles west of Hawesville. The accident happened on August 17 at roughly 7:30 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Heath L. Payne of Utica pulled his pickup truck from a parking spot, and after he pulled out he notice a 2001 Honda accord in the parking spot next to where his truck sat with its door open. Payne said he then noticed the driver of the car, Herbert Goodall also of Utica, partly under the car working on it. Goodall went into the plant before the officer arrived.
Both vehicles sustained moderate damage in the accident. Neither vehicle required a tow.
