Stalled truck causes wreck
No one suffered injury when a pickup stalled while crossing U.S. 60, and a log truck hit the vehicle. The accident happened on June 1 at approximately 2 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Emmick filed the accident report.
Robert Douglas of Hawesville went to exit state Route 69 and pull out onto U.S. Hwy 60 in his 1989 Dodge Dakota. When he pulled out, his pickup truck died and he could not get it to restart.
Vernon Burton, of Webster, KY was driving a 1985 R-series Mack truck owned by Breck County Hardwoods. Burton was headed east bound on U.S. 60 with a load of logs when a pickup pulled into his path and stopped. Burton tried to swerve to miss the truck, but could not and hit the pickup.
After impact Burton’s log truck crossed the center-line, went off the left side of the roadway and hit a rock wall. The Dakota sustained very severe damage, and it was towed to Kerr Automotive in Lewisport.
The log truck also sustained severe damage. It was towed to Breck County hardwoods outside of Cloverport.
