Slick road causes wreck

An Owensboro woman escaped injury when her car slid off the road on state Route 69, two miles south of Hawesville. The accident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. on April 8. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Emmick filed the accident report.

Selena S. Dame told Emmick that as she drove north on state Route 69 in her 2000 Toyota 4Runner she entered into a curve. While rounding the curve the slick pavement caused her SUV to start to slide. The vehicle crossed the oncoming lane, went off the pavement and struck a ditch. The impact caused her vehicle to go back across the highway, down an embankment on the right side of the road, strike a ditch and overturn. The vehicle came to rest facing south.
The Toyota sustained very severe damage. A wrecker from Mattingly’s towed the vehicle from the scene.
