Vehicles collide at stoplight in Lewisport
Two Hawesville residents suffered injury in an accident at the traffic light on U.S. 60 in Lewisport. The accident happened on December 21 at approximately 3 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Amanda M. Morris of Harned, KY was traveling east on U.S. 60 in a 2007 GMC Acadia and came to the traffic light at the intersection of U.S. 60 and state Route 657. The light for Morris turned red, but she failed to stop.
Hawesville resident Tammy King, and passenger Presley King, were traveling south on state Route 657 in a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, and proceeded through the intersection when the light turned green, and Morris’ SUV slammed into King’s car Hancock County Emergency Services arrived on scene to provide first aid, then later transported both Tammy King and Presley King to Owensboro Health Regional Health for additional treatment.
Morris’ Acadia sustained severe damage. King’s Malibu also sustained severe damage. Wreckers from Bob’s Garage removed the damaged vehicles.
Van hits car
A two-vehicle accident on U.S. 60 damaged two vehicles, but caused no injuries on December 19 at roughly 6:45 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy BJ Burton filed the accident report.
Sherri B. Axton of Tell City, Ind. went to turn left onto Jennings Street from U.S. 60 east in her 1993 Nissan NX coupe. Sondra P. Wheatley of Hawesville pulled from state Route 2181 at the intersection with U.S. 60 to go west on U.S. 60, and hit Axton’s car on the passenger side door. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, but neither required a tow.
