COVID cases continue to climb

The number of COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Hancock County as the Green River District Health Department reports a total of 199 confirmed cases in the county. The department’s numbers also say 137 people recovered from the virus, which means 62 active cases exist in the county as of Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020. The death toll in the county stands at six, with one person currently hospitalized for the virus. To date, 11 people in the county required hospitalization to treat their COVID-19 symptoms.

District wide, the total number of cases stands at 6,228, with a total of 107 deaths. Currently, throughout the GRDHD area, 1,289 active COVID-19 cases exist.
Persons in the 50-plus age groups comprise just over 40-percent of all COVID-19 cases, while the 20 to 29 age group contains the largest number of cases at 1,046. According to the information provided by GRDHD, the 12 to 19 age group contains more COVID-19 cases than the 80-plus age group; 502 cases exist in the 12 to 19 group, while 371 exist in the 80-plus category.
