Car hits bridge
A driver avoided injury when he hit a bridge on Tom Bolin Road in an attempt to miss a deer. The accident happened Sunday morning at roughly 7:15 a.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
James Cooper, of Hawesville, said as he drove a 2008 Honda Accord south on Tom Bolin Road, five miles west of Hawesville, a deer ran from a cornfield into the path of his vehicle. Cooper said he swerved to miss the deer, briefly went off the side of the road into grass and gravel, came back onto the road and slammed into a concrete bridge barrier.
The car sustained very severe damage. A wrecker from Bob’s Garage removed the vehicle from the scene.
Accident at Dollar General
No one suffered injury in an accident at the Lewisport Dollar General on October 16. The accident happened at approximately 1:15 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Emmick filed the accident report.
Teresa Roberts, of Lewisport, went to back her 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe from a parking spot at the Dollar General in Lewisport, and failed to see a vehicle pulling in behind her and struck the vehicle.
Roger Stroup, also of Lewisport, said as he pulled into the parking lot of the Dollar General in Lewisport in his 2000 Ford Excursion he noticed Roberts’ vehicle start to back from a parking spot, so he stopped his vehicle. The vehicle continued to back, and struck the front end of his Excursion.
Robert’s Tahoe sustained minor damage. Stroup’s Excursion sustained very minor damage. Neither vehicle required a tow.
Chevrolet hits Ford
No one suffered injury in a two-vehicle accident on Bridge Street in Hawesville. The accident happened on October 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Tammy J. Robbins, of Hardinsburg, told Hendrick she stopped her 2014 Ford Escape on Bridge Street, when another vehicle rammed into the back of her SUV. John S. Olsen, of Cannelton, ind. told Hendrick he failed to stop his 2001 Chevrolet S-10 in time due to the road being slick, and smashed into the rear of Robbins’ vehicle.
Robbins’ vehicle sustained minor damage. Olsen’s vehicle sustained minor to moderate damage. Neither vehicle required a tow.
