Registration is open for Hancock County Youth Baseball: Tee Ball, ages 4-6; Rookie, ages 6-9; Major, ages 9-12 (age as of Apr. 30 and ages 6 and 9 can choose league). Cost is $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional sibling. Parents/caregivers bring snacks and a drink, and pizza will be available for purchase. *The payment and form must be submitted by Feb. 11. Saturday, February 14th: Hancock County Public Schools Foundation Casino Night Fundraiser at the Lewisport Community Center, 6:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. For couples, besties or solo high rollers! $50 General Tickets per person, and $80 VIP Tickets. Free playing chips, dinner, photobooth and music included with each ticket price. Tuesday, March 24th: Perler Bead Magnets project at the Hawesville Library, 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Registration opens Monday, March 9th. Design your own pearler bead masterpieces that will then be fused together and made into custom magnets.

Friday, March 27th: Teen Dungeons & Dragons at the Hawesville Library for ages 13-18, 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Registration opens Monday, March 16th.

Saturday, March 28th: Hancock County Homesteaders Market at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1430 KY 1389 in Hawesville. Live animals and many local handmade, homegrown goods. 2026 Market dates are: March 28, April 18, May 16, Sept. 5 and Oct. 24.

Saturday, March 28th: Annual community Easter Egg Hunt at Vastwood Park, 10:30 a.m. Registration opens at 9:45 a.m., on the day of the event.

Monday, March 30th: Music performances at North Hancock Elementary School. Kindergarten, 5:00 p.m., and 1st grade, 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 31st: Application deadline for Blake Gatton Tradesman Award. Must be a senior in high school and going into a trade. To apply go to ORSPC.org, click on the Resources tab, download the application, fill it out and mail it in. Recipient will be announced in April.

Friday, April 3rd: HCHS Senior Community Service Hours are due. To receive the cord, seniors will need 48 approved hours by this date.

Sunday, April 5th: Easter Sunday.

April 6th-10th: Spring Break for Hancock County Schools.

Monday, April 13th: Students return from Spring Break, and classes resume at HC Schools.

Tuesday, April 14th: Pounded Flowers Tapestry activity for homeschool families and their school-aged children at the Hawesville Library, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Registration is required and will open Monday, March 23rd.

Wednesday, April 15th: Popup Driver Licensing event at Hawesville Library. Apply for or renew driver’s licenses, ID cards, CDLs and motorcycle licenses. Real ID and standard versions are available; bring required documents. Registration opens Wednesday, April 1st at 8:00 a.m.

Saturday, April 18th: Hancock County High School Prom at the Owensboro Convention Center, 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. The theme is Viva Las Vegas. Cost is $25 per person. After Prom will be held at HCHS, 10:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Attendance at Prom is not required to attend After Prom, and the price is $10 per person. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. for After Prom. Sign in by 11:15 p.m., if you attended prom.

Monday, April 20th: Voter registration deadline for the primary election, 4:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 25th: SHES Yearbook orders are due today, and *5th grade yearbook ads are due on April 18. To send photos, email [email protected].

Saturday, April 25th: Community Shred Day at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1430 St. Rt. 1389, Hawesville.

Sunday, May 10th: Mother’s Day.

May 11th-15th: HCHS Seniors currently 18 or who will be 18 by Nov. 3, 2026, can register to vote during the school day in the HCHS Media Center. Bring driver’s license and social security number. HCHS government teacher, Mr. Kratzer, will be there to assist with paperwork.

Tuesday, May 19th: No classes at HC Schools for Primary Election Day. Polls open 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the clerk before 6:00 p.m. Central Time.

Friday, May 22nd: Last day of school for students at HC Schools (This date is subject to change). Closing day for teachers and staff is Tuesday, May 26th.

Monday, May 25th: Memorial Day.

Tuesday, June 2nd: Candidate filing deadline for the general election in November, 4:00 p.m.

Friday, June 19th: Juneteenth.

Saturday, July 4th: Independence Day.

Monday, August 24th: First day of the new school year for students at HC Schools. (Opening Day for teachers and staff is Friday, August 21st.)

Monday, September 7th: Labor Day, no classes at HC Schools.

Saturday, September 12th: Community Shred Day at Lewisport Branch Library, 400 2nd St., Lewisport. Shredding done on site. 5 boxes/totes per vehicle.
