Lewisport Lions Club Awarded Club Excellence

The Lewisport Lions Club was awarded Club Excellence last week. Multiple District 43 Governor, Jimmy Tipton, presented awards of excellence to eight out of over 70 clubs in the district.

Upon receiving the esteemed award on behalf of the Lewisport Lions Club, President Kasey Emmick was awarded with a banner patch and pin.

According to Tom Evans, Club Secretary Treasurer, the Lewisport Lions Club has about 55 members. This award will revitalize the club and their service impact. In addition, members will expect to see greater leadership opportunities.

In order to qualify for this award, Lewisport Lions Club had to meet specific requirements in four categories: membership, service, leadership & organizational excellence and marketing. This award of excellence means that they not only met their requirements but far exceeded them.

Lion Magazine reports that the Lions Club is the “biggest club in North America.” Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than $700 million in grants to support humanitarian projects around the world, since 1968, and was ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a 2007 study by The Financial Times.

The Lewisport Lions Club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Lewisport Lions Club Community Center (15 Pell Street). For more information, the phone number is: 270-929-3932.
