Coleman issues bench warrants for failure to appear
Hancock County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Coleman issued bench warrants for several people that failed to appear at the January of 2023 motion day hearings at the Hancock County Judicial Center. The list of people cited for failure to appear includes David Lamar Johnson Jr., Janae Lewis, John J. Nelson, Jessica Sacks, Donnie Sorrell, Aaron Thompson (two cases) and Andrew L. Unser.
According to the court file, Elizabethtown resident David Johnson failed to appear on a charge of flagrant nonsupport. Coleman issued a $7,500 bench warrant for Johnson’s arrest. Hawesville resident Janae Lewis failed to appear on a variety of alcohol and drug related charges, including a possession of a controlled substance in the first-degree charge. Coleman issued a $945 bench warrant for Lewis’ arrest.
Hawesville resident John J. Nelson faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and failed to appear in court on January 27 of this year. Coleman issued a $1,000 bench warrant for Nelson’s arrest. In June of 2020 the Hancock County grand jury indicted Hawesville resident Jessica L. Sacks on a charge of rape in the third degree and unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree. On January 27 Sacks failed to appear at the motion day proceedings, and Coleman issued a $175 bench warrant for Sacks’ arrest.
Owensboro resident Donnie Sorrell faced a charge of intimidating a participant in the legal process at the January motion day hearings. Sorrell failed to appear, and Coleman issued a $1,000 bench warrant for Sorrell’s arrest.
Former Hancock County resident Aaron Thompson failed to appear in two cases before the court during motion day proceedings. Thompson faced a charge of knowingly exploiting an adult by person over $300 in one case and receiving stolen property in the other case. He failed to appear in court, so Judge Coleman issued a $2,500 bench warrant in one case and $1,000 bench warrant in the other case for Thompson’s arrest.
Finally, Ferdinand, Ind. resident Andrew L. Unser faced a variety of drug and theft charges during motion day proceedings. He failed to appear, so Judge Coleman issued a $7,500 bench warrant for his arrest.
