Volleyball varsity wins two in a row

The HCHS Lady Hornets varsity volleyball team defeated Cannelton in straight sets during matches played at the middle school last Thursday.

Hancock County won by set scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-10.

Haylee Garrison had seven kills, a block and two aces for the Lady Hornets. Ashlyn Madden had five kills and two aces, Sydney Kennedy had four kills, one assist, six digs and seven aces, Maddisen Peck had three kills, nine assists and five aces, Brooke Toler had one kill, seven digs and one ace, Lauren Kellems had one kill, three blocks and four aces, Caroline Connor had four assists and two aces, and Sophia Reed had two digs.

Cloverport

The varsity girls also won in straight sets, defeating Cloverport 3-0 at Breckinridge County Tuesday. Hancock County won by set scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-11. The team is coached by Bailey Weikel.

Kennedy had two kills, seven assists, two digs and six aces to lead HCHS. Garrison had six kills, six digs and five aces, Kellems had four kills, one block and five aces, Peck had two kills, five assists and five aces, Madden had two kills, two blocks, one dig and one ace, Sydney Weatherholt had one kill, two assists, one dig and two aces, Brianna Mooneyham had one kill and one dig, Toler had two assists, two digs and two aces, Kennedy Desper had three kills and two digs, Lily Lindauer had three digs and one ace, and Reed had one dig.

Whitesville

The Lady Hornets fell 0-3 to Trinity at Whitesville on Aug. 30. The home team won by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-6.

Garrison had six kills, one block, 10 digs and two aces. Peck had five kills, two blocks, five assists and three digs, Toler had one kill and 13 digs, Kennedy had three kills, three blocks, six assists and seven digs, Reed had nine digs and two aces, Kellems had two kills, six blocks and one dig, Madden had four blocks, Desper had one kill, one block and one dig, Sarah Huff had one block and two digs, and Lindauer had one dig.
