Pellville Early Learning Preschool; Celebrating 10 years
The Pellville Early Learning Preschool is celebrating their 10th year of operation in a “new to us” facility. The preschool program is still located on the grounds of Pellville Baptist but now housed in the former youth pastor parsonage. The new space allows for the expansion of an outdoor classroom that will allow our preschoolers to spend more quality time in nature. With lead teacher Crystal Bernardi, assistant teachers Erica Harrison and Barbara Spindel, and Bible teacher Shirley Veach the year promises to be filled with learning, laughter, and many new friendships.
The preschool was birthed out of a desire to provide a quality program for three- and four-year-old children in the Pellville area. At the time of opening, preschool options were limited to South Hancock where enrollment was limited to students with special needs or specific income guidelines and Rise and Shine preschool which involved a lengthy drive for southern Hancock families. With the help of Barbara Spindel, newly retired from South Hancock Elementary, Kim Mitchell, early childhood educator, the support of Pellville Baptist Church, hopeful parents and the guidance of the Lord, a third preschool option for the southern part of Hancock County became a reality. Today, families from Hancock, Ohio, and Daviess counties are utilizing this ministry. Since 2016, Crystal Bernardi has been the lead teacher along with the continued help of Barbara Spindel. Today, She, Erica Harrison, Barbara, and a number of precious young at heart women from Pellville Baptist continue to invest in the lives of our most precious gift…our children.

More important than the play-based designed program is our desire to assist parents in developing a strong foundation in solid biblical truths into the hearts of each child. Bible stories, scripture memorization and songs are an essential part of the preschool curriculum as they learn who God is and Children are modeled love, respect, kindness and forgiveness by our staff as they are learning to not only make friends but be friends.
