Sheriff’s Department investigates collisions

Deputy Aaron Emmick investigated a two-vehicle collision around 6:32 a.m., June 2, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Madison Street in Hawesville.

According to the report, William K. Blinzinger, 93, of Hawesville, was operating 2018 Ford Escape westbound on U.S. 60 and entered the left westbound lane.

Tracy M. Young, 55, of Hawesville, was operating a 2014 GMC Sierra and came alongside the Blinzinger vehicle in the right lane. Blinzinger then abruptly turned in front of Young, with Young then striking the side of the Ford Escape.

Both vehicles remained operational, and there were no reported injuries.

Deputy Jeff Hendrick investigated a two-vehicle collision around 4:35 p.m., June 13, on Elm Tree Lane in the Snyder Trailer Court in Hawesville.

According to the report, Franklin Newman, 68, of Hawesville, was operating a 2007 Dodge Caliber and stopped in traffic waiting for a vehicle to move from Snyder Trailer Court Road.

Mary Johnson, 48, of Hawesville, was operating a 2006 Nissan Maxima and backing from a driveway onto the roadway.

Johnson’s vehicle collided with the Newman vehicle in the front passenger side, causing moderate damage. Johnson’s vehicle sustained minor damage.

Both vehicles remained operational and there were no reported injuries.

Deputy B.J. Burton investigated a two-vehicle collision on Rearden Lane in Hawesville around 3:40 p.m., on June 17.

According to the report, Donald L. Riley, 44, of Hawesville, was operating a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, backing from a driveway onto Rearden Lane. As Riley backed into the roadway, he failed to see a 2018 Ford F-350 operating by Randall R. Mullen, Jr., 35, Hawesville, which was travelling southbound on Rearden.

The Riley vehicle made contact with the Mullen vehicle in the rear driver side area, causing minor to moderate damage. The Riley vehicle sustained minor to moderate damage.

Both vehicles remained operational and there were no reported injuries.
