Bond reduced for man indicted for sexual abuse of child

Christopher McBride, 34, appeared in Hancock Circuit Court on March 31 for a bond reduction hearing on several charges, including first-degree sexual abuse, incest and first-degree sodomy. Judge Tim R. Coleman reduced McBride’s bond to $125,000 full cash. McBride is seen consulting with his defense counsel, Chip Adams of Madisonville.
A Lewisport man indicted for several felony charges related to child sexual abuse had his full cash bond reduced to $125,000 from $250,000 in an appearance in Hancock Circuit Court on March 31.
Christopher McBride, 34, was indicted Feb. 23 by a Hancock County Grand Jury on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse; first-degree sodomy; incest, victim under 18 years of age; four counts of unlawful transaction with a minor, under 16, illegal sex act; and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
McBride is alleged to have subjected his minor child to forcible sexual intercourse from Jan. 1, 2020, through Nov. 22, 2021, in Hancock County. The second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor charge is related to an allegation McBride caused the minor to engage in marijuana use.
McBride was arraigned on March 22. The case was investigated by Trooper David Ammon of Kentucky State Police Post 16.
McBride is represented by Chip Adams of Madisonville. Adams argued in his motion for bond reduction that the initial bond was set arbitrarily, and at a level his client was known to not to have the financial means to meet.
Conditions of the bond reduction include no contact with the alleged victim, her family or any minors; weekly drug tests; no alcohol; no arrests; no firearms; waiver of search and seizure rights; continued payment of child support; and maintaining employment.
His next scheduled court appearance before Judge Tim R. Coleman is scheduled for April 26 for pretrial discovery.
McBride remained in custody at Breckinridge County Detention Center as of Tuesday morning.
