Hancock County Grand Jury returned seven indictments Friday, Oct. 29, 2021

The Hancock County Grand Jury returned seven indictments on Friday, Oct. 29, for charges such as incest, wanton endangerment and drug-related offenses.

Those indicted on a True Bill are:

• John J. Nelson, of Hawesville, was charged with one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine.)

• Nathan E. Hill, of Granville, Ohio, was charged with one count of first-degree sodomy, victim under 12 years of age; and one count of incest, victim under 12 years of age.

• Alex S. Payne, of Lewisport, was charged with 12 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and 12 counts of menacing.

• Christopher Taylor, of Lewisport, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense; no motorcycle operator’s license; failure to maintain required insurance; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• John W. Dixon, of Lewisport, was charged with cultivating marijuana (more than five plants.)

• Cody L. Bannon, of Owensboro, was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, fourth or greater offense; failure to produce insurance card; disregarding stop sign; and no operator’s/moped license.

• Joey Hawkins, of Eastview, was charged with theft by failure to make required disposition, $1,000 or more; theft by failure to make required disposition, $10,000 or more; and second-degree persistent felony offender.
