Upcoming Fundraisers for Boulware Mission includes Owensboro dance competition


The Boulware Mission is hosting a “Lifting Others Up” Lift-A-Thon at Hancock County Fitness & Tanning on Saturday, July 24th from 8 A.M. to 10 A.M.

The price to enter is $25 per person. All of the participants will receive a t-shirt on the day of the event.

Boulware Mission, located in Owensboro, has a mission, “to help displaced individuals become self-sufficient through treatment, education and services.” They focus on recovery from the “root causes” and have helped many people in the community for many years. Their goal is “to see each of our clients become self-sufficient. We do this by identifying and alleviating contributing factors to their situation.”

Another benefit for Boulware Mission, is the 9th annual Dancing with Our Stars Owensboro Style.

This event is presented by Old National Bank and will take place on Saturday, August 7th at the Owensboro Convention Center. Tickets are currently on sale. The doors open at 5:00 P.M. and a Sit-down Dinner will be served at 6:00 P.M. The Dance Competition begins after dinner.   

Taunya Iverson, General Manager for Cromwell Media of Owensboro and a resident of Hancock County, will be competing this year in the dance competition. She has been dreaming of competing in Dancing with Our Stars for 7 years now. She is a community business leader and helps organizations and businesses succeed in their missions. Taunya oversees 8 local radio stations, a full-on digital department and 20 employees. She has earned the nickname “Unicorn” because of her passion to make a positive impact on the world.

Taunya is originally from Charleston, SC and has lived in KY for 17 years now. She and her husband, Kevin McManaway, live in Lewisport. They have 4 grown children, 3 young men and 6 grandchildren. She has served on the board of Girls Inc. for 2 years, and has been a member of Impact 100 for the past 3 years.

Her dance partner will be Buster Ashley, from Owensboro. Their Coach/Choreographer is Baylee Long. She was the instructor for the 2019 champions, Eric and Ashley Owen.
