Minor accident in front of Bill’s
A minor traffic accident in front of Bill’s IGA in Hawesville slightly damaged two vehicles, but caused no injuries. The accident happened at roughly 5:30 p.m. on June 25. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy BJ Burton filed the accident report.

Hannah Chaffin, of Hawesville, pulled into the turning lane in front of Bill’s IGA in a 2017 Lincoln MKC and waited for traffic to clear before turning into Bill’s IGA. A 2001 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Kalee Lipsey of Tell City exited Bill’s IGA parking lot, turned left from the lot and entered the turning lane behind the MKC to go east on U.S. 60. The rear tire of the truck clipped the bumper of the car.
The pickup did not sustain damage. The MKC sustained minor to moderate damage. Neither vehicle required a tow.

Truck hits car
No one suffered injury in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. 60 and state Route 1406, five miles east of Hawesville. The accident happened on June 24 at roughly 5 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.

Christina M. Oleson, of Tell City, Ind., told Hendrick that as she drove west on U.S. 60 in her 2019 Toyota Prius, she came to the intersection with state Route 1406. She told Hendrick she saw a vehicle, a 2009 GMC Canyon driven by Jerimiah Coultas also of Tell City, continue through the intersection without stopping. Oleson said she slowed her vehicle in an effort to avoid the collision, but Coultas’ truck plowed into the passenger side of her car.

Coultas’ truck sustained minor to moderate damage, but did not require a tow. Oleson’s car sustained moderate to severe damage and was towed from the scene.
