Mom’s Choice Awards awarded three Gold Medals, Little Miss Grubby Toes series

The Mom’s Choice Awards has awarded three Gold Medals to the latest three books in the “Little Miss Grubby Toes Misadventure series.”  Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! won the 2020 Florida Authors & Publishers (FAPA) Awards before bringing home the Gold from the 2021 Moms’ Choice Awards.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Eats Too Much Candy! and Little Miss Grubby Toes Gets Stuck in a Tree! also received Gold Medals.  The children’s books which come with a set of questions (and answers), a clue to Little Miss Grubby Toes’ real name, a set of downloadable coloring sheets and word puzzles were selected in the category of “Values & Life Lessons.”  All five books have garnered Gold Medals from Mom’s Choice.  The Mom’s Choice Award is recognized in 55 countries around the world for setting the benchmark of excellence in family-friendly media, products and services.

Hancock County author Eddie Price has another book on the illustrator’s desk entitled Little Miss Grubby Toes Gets Lost!  He also used the downtime during the Covid-19 shutdown to research and write his latest novel, Rebels Abroad.

After four read-throughs and editing himself, he turned the manuscript over to his wife and to next door neighbor, Randall Ramsey for their opinions and to catch surface errors.  Then the novel goes out to six readers for the same purpose.

“Some of these readers can be tough, but that is exactly what I want,” Price says.  “I want them to catch surface errors, any inconsistencies in plot, anything that isn’t clear.  After all, it will be going out to the public.  I would rather have things fixed before that happens.”

When the six proof readers have finished, Price will send the novel to a professional archivist and a freelance editor.   Rebels Abroad now has an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and an LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number) and is registered with the US Copyright office.

Price says that lots of readers ask when the novel be published.  “Although Millers Mill Publishing is my company, my proof readers will determine when I can make the edits to send on to the archivist and editor.

In the meantime am contracting with the cover artist John Ward to design the artwork on the front cover.  Then the cover and book must go into graphic design.  My website designer did a nice job on One Drop–A Slave! and I plan to use her again.  Then, Friesens Publishing in Canada will have to put the book in their lineup.

A lot of these things are beyond control.  It is the same with Little Miss Grubby Toes Gets Lost!  The children’s book is written and the editor in California is done as much as she can do.  We are waiting on the illustrator.

This article is not in the hard copy issue of Hancock Clarion! So disappointed not to see it in there.

Sometimes this happens because of space issues, but don’t worry, it will definitely be in the hard copy next week!
