The HCHS track & field teams competed in a prestigious 7-team meet at Apollo High School in Owensboro Tuesday.
Isabella “Izzy” Ross placed second in the girls mile run in a time of six minutes, 20 seconds. She lost to Ahmira Pickett of Apollo by a fraction of a second. Ross was gaining at the finish line.
Sebastain Fredell placed third in the boys 110 meter hurdles. His time was 18.38 seconds. Ashton Weaver of Apollo won in 16.99.
The girls 4×800 meter relay team placed third in 12:19. Runners were Erica Lindsey, Juliana Nevitt, Sydney Weatherholt and Izzy Ross. Apollo won in 11:54.
Leelee Board was third in the girls 100 meter hurdles. Her time was 24.99 seconds. Isabella Tichenor of Henderson County won in 18.83.
Alex Kratzer was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 28–08. Imarie Carter of Henderson won at 31–03.
Eighth grader Luke Pritchard was fifth in the discus with an impressive throw of 99–07, with Adam Gregory 11th at 93–06. James Singleton was 16th (83–10) and Conner Szefi 25th (48–08). Gavin Wimstat of OHS won at 113–01.
Gregory was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 38–10.5, and Pritchard was 10th at 34–06.5. Singleton was 24th (30–02.5) and Szefi 29th (24–03). Austin Gough of OHS won at 43–10.5.
Kratzer placed sixth in the girls long jump with a leap of 14–04. Nevitt was ninth at 11–02 and Board 11th at 9–04. Emily Burtke of Apollo won at 15–09.
Weatherholt was sixth in the girls 800 meters in a time of 2:56.35, while Ross was seventh in 2:56.75. Lindsey was 12th in 3:05. Baylee Hare of Apollo won in 2:49.
Kratzer was eighth in the 200 dash in 30.9 seconds. Emily McCormick was 19th in 36.29. Mary Hupp (unattached) won in 28.93.
Weatherholt was eighth in the girls 400 meters in 1:14.52 and Lindsey was ninth in 1:14.76. Havanah John of Apollo won in 1:04.23. Kratzer was ninth in the girls 100 meter dash in 14.83, and McCormick was 29th in 17.60. Natalia Davis of Henderson won in 13.96.
Alex Basham was 11th in the boys 200 dash in 27.39. Reese Carroll of OHS won in 23.64.
Basham was 11th in the long jump with a leap of 15–07, with Braydon Wathen 12th at 15–03. Steven Stevenson of OHS won at 21 feet.
Austin Kellems was 12th in the mile in 6:30. Nate Turner of Owensboro won in 4:43.
Fredell was 14th in the boys 100 dash in 13.18. Basham was 19th in 13.60 and Wathen 22nd in 14.43. Jaheim Williams of Henderson won in 11.76.
Kellems was 15th in the boys 800 in 2:53.
Henderson County won the girls team title with 183 points. Hancock County was fourth with 41 points. Owensboro won the boys team title with 203 points. HCHS was sixth with 15 points.
