Poole’s Pharmacy celebrates 30 years
30 years ago, on October 29th, Ron and Lisa Poole purchased Brand’s Corner Drug in Central City, KY from Orville Brand. When they took it over the pharmacy had three employees, today Poole’s Pharmacy Care has 40 full-time employees and 19 part-time employees split between their 5 pharmacy locations and corporate office. Ron Poole said “In many ways it seems like yesterday; in some ways it seems like a lifetime ago.”
Through the years Poole’s Pharmacy Care has grown from being primarily a prescription filling center to performing clinical pharmacy services with compounding labs at 2 locations, and home medical equipment at all 5 locations.
During this time, Poole’s Pharmacy Care has always had the reputation of providing excellent customer service. We’ve always been known for how we treat our customer/patients. Ron added “That’s the backbone of our reputation. I purposely chose Poole’s Pharmacy Care as our new name in 1995 to place emphasis on the “Care” that we deliver to every customer/patient. That’s why I always stress to every employee to answer a phone call by saying our whole name, “Poole’s Pharmacy Care” because we truly do provide “Care” to the people who pay us the biggest compliment by walking through our front doors or ringing the bell at our Drive-thru’s.”
Mr. Poole went on to say “The largest blessing that Lisa and I have received is from the many loyal customers over the years. We’ve tried our best to give back in every way possible to our communities that we live in and serve. Lisa and I are fortunate to have the best family of employees anyone could ever pray for; the utmost quality people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can only hope that I’ve been worthy to have such a dedicated, loving, and caring staff that truly cares about the customers/patients that we serve.”
Lisa and I have truly been blessed with good health and raising four great children that have been an integral part of our pharmacy business over the years. They’ve tolerated all of our pharmacy conversations over the years, filled in at the stores when there have been shortages, helped move and open stores, and taken pride in our stores.
Poole’s Pharmacy Care is planning a celebration of this milestone achievement, however due to the corona virus they are postponing it until late spring or early summer. Mr. Poole said “Sometime in the spring or summer, when it is safe to do so, we are planning to have a celebration thanking our customers/patients, employees and each community which we serve.”
