The Hancock Clarion special commemorative section honoring this county’s military service personnel is in this week’s paper. The historical edition honors all of this county’s military personnel—from the War for Independence up to Vietnam.
The Clarion could possibly not do this immense task on its own, and is deeply indebted to numerous persons and organizations that provided names of veterans.
The Daughters of The American Revolution provided information on Revolutionary War and Civil War veterans. This is the first time the Clarion has included these veterans in the paper. Members helping were Debbie Owens, Susie York and Cindy Wedding.
A special thanks goes out to LT Newton for his hard work gathering names and double-checking information for this historical edition. Newton worked incredibly hard digging through records to find veterans of WWI and WWII. The hard work these volunteers put in to make this section a success is greatly appreciated.
