Accidents – Running boy hits truck

By Ralph Dickerson

A Lewisport youth suffered various injuries when he ran into the side of a pickup truck while playing tag with his sister. The accident happened at Poplar Grove Apartments on July 31 at roughly 8:30 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Robert M. Adams, of Lewisport, told Hendrick as he drove his 2015 Ram 1500 pickup in the parking lot at Poplar Grove, he slowed his truck to drive over a speed bump. As he crossed the speed bump, Adams said something hit the side of his truck and then slid over his hood.
Jacob L. Rouse, also of Lewisport, said as he ran while playing tag with his sister he did not notice the pickup truck and ran into it. Hendrick said an investigation revealed Rouse came from between two parked vehicles and into the drive portion of the parking lot where he ran into the side of the truck.
Hancock County EMS responded to the scene and provided first aid. Later Hancock County EMS transported Rouse to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for additional treatment. He suffered various injuries over his body in the accident.
Adams’ truck sustained very minor damage in the accident.
