2020 Teen Summer Reading Fun!

2020 Teen Summer Reading Fun
Teen Activity Logs….Monday, June 1st – Friday, July 31st
The teen summer reading log may look a little different this year, but the fantastic prizes remain the same! Instead of just reading, the log will have numerous activities intended to help you stay healthy, broaden your horizons, and engage your community: Swimming, drawing, exploring, partaking in tasty summer treats, and more!

All you have to do is complete the log like a Bingo card (any row, column, or corner-to-corner diagonal). Your first log will earn you a finisher prize, and you may turn in up to five logs total, each of which counts as an entry for our prize drawing at the end of the summer. Prizes include gift cards to local businesses including Bill’s on the Hill, Bright Star Nursery, Galaxy Pizza, Subway, and many others!

Dungeons & Dragons Night….Tues. July 7th  @ Hawesville 5pm & Tues. July 21st @ Lewisport at 5pm
Join us for a summer of heroic adventure as we play the classic fantasy roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons! This year’s summer reading theme is “Imagine Your Story”, and the core of D&D is storytelling: You and your friends telling a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more.  No experience is needed, and new players are welcome! Dice and other supplies will be provided, as well as pizza!  For ages 13–18. Spots are limited and pre-registration is required. Please call (270) 927-6760 for more information and to reserve a seat.
* Depending on the library’s timeline for reopening, D&D Night may be moved to a socially-distanced event or an online format (in which case a webcam, microphone, and PC will be required). We will contact those who are signed up with further details once we know more about our reopening plan.

Geocaching Treasure Hunt….Wednesday, July 1st – Friday, July 31st
Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices such as a smart phone. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the secret container (called a cache, or geocache) hidden at that location. Anyone of any age can play, and it’s a fantastic activity for getting outside and exploring!  There are hundreds of geocaches hidden throughout Hancock County already, and this summer we’ll be adding to their number! Find the caches the library has hidden and be entered for fantastic prizes.  Details are forthcoming, so keep an eye out for more information on our Facebook page and in our weekly Clarion article!
