When C&T Healthcare announced its closing last month it left a void in the medical community in Hancock County. Family Health Care stepped in to fill the void. If the name sounds familiar it is because the practice recently signed a contract to provide school based services to the Hancock County school system.
“That was our initial contact with the area,” Gina Roberts, Family Health Care Director of Operations, said.
Family Health Care started 20 years ago by offering health care services to rural communities in the Commonwealth. It is a full service general medicine practice.
“We are expanding our services across the Commonwealth,” Roberts said.
The clinic plans to open on April 20 in the Lewisport shopping center, and is now taking patients. Shelly Potts is the APRN for the Lewisport location, and people wanting to book an appointment can call 606-546-7777 to get on the schedule. Family Health Care is in the process of obtaining a local phone number.
When Family Health Care signed the contract to provide school based health care in the school system, company officials took a closer look at the county. The closure of C&T Health Care offered the perfect opportunity.
“We felt like there was a need in Hancock County,” Roberts said. “We decided to open a clinic.”
The hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
