Fiber optic internet now at Hawesville library

Of the many things people can say about internet in Hancock County, phrases like “that’s so fast” or “it downloaded already?” or “I pay for fiber optic” would be among the least expected, but it turns out that all taxpayers are funding fiber optic internet at the public library, and it’s available to anyone with a library card.

The Hawesville branch of the Hancock County Public Library installed fiber optic in spring of 2018, and it’s likely the fastest internet publicly available in the county, but the upgrade came by happenstance.
