Willow & Pine Market shares important lessons for at-home chefs

“One of the most important lessons a cook learns is “everything in its place” – to streamline organization and enable efficiency, says Anne Higgins, owner of Willow and Pine Market.”

“Seamless integration of carefully selected everyday essentials will ensure an at-home chef is set up for success in the kitchen”

Kitchen organization

Anne says just the thought of spring gets her excited to organize spaces and get creative…especially in the kitchen!

“As a military family, we’ve moved a lot and I’ve had to organize a variety of kitchen spaces…small, large, and everything in between,” Anne said.

“I tend to be a bit of a maximalist.  I love kitchen gadgets, tools, and utensils! Let me share with you some of my spring cleaning tricks to help keep my kitchen tidy and functional.

I begin by sorting through every single drawer and cabinet…throwing away broken and damaged items…eliminating unnecessary duplicates…and paring down to only those items that I really use.”

Durable utensils

“A good way to reduce clutter in your pantry and kitchen is to buy utensils and appliances that serve dual functions. Another best practice is to buy quality products that won’t have to be replaced quickly.

Dreamfarm is one of my favorite brands. Their utensils are durable and can be used for multiple tasks.”

Kitchen towels

“Don’t hang on to faded, old towels when there are so many pretty options available!  Quality towels make all the difference when cooking, baking, and cleaning up.  They can also add a touch of color and personality to your kitchen.

Our Geometry towels are made from recycled materials, are super absorbent and are fast drying! I absolutely love these, they are my “go-to”.

Crown Linen Designs hand towels are beautifully embroidered and made from high quality linen.”

Showcase your special things

“Once you have cleaned out and organized the kitchen, move everything off the countertops, give them a good cleaning, and then begin to add your seasonal touches.

Before purchasing anything, try decorating with your favorite serving pieces instead.  Prop up your favorite platter in the corner…fill a mixing bowl with fruit…display candles and other small items on a special cake stand.

I have so many wooden utensils (because I’m a maximalist!) that I store them next to my cooktop in a larger planter!  Be creative and showcase your special things”!
