Hancock man with dementia found safely in Todd County

A Hancock County man with dementia reported missing on April 8 was safely reunited with his family through the work of several emergency services agencies here and in Todd County.

According to the Todd County Sheriff’s Department, in the evening hours TCSD was notified by Hancock County authorities that Michael Dowell was missing and that his vehicle’s OnStar system indicated he was possibly in the 9000 block of Greenville Road (Kentucky 181).

Deputies Jonathan Knight and Derek Baumann responded to the area and found Dowell’s vehicle unattended and unlocked. In talking with witnesses in the area, the deputies determined a Todd County citizen had provided Dowell with a ride to the area of the Clifty community.

The deputies located Dowell and reunited him with his wife and family, through the assistance of Todd County Central Dispatch, Hancock County Central Dispatch, and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
