Movie and Bowling Passes
The Library has passes for Cinema 66 and the Bowling Center in Tell City. Stop by the circulation desk with your library card and check one out. One per library card please. Enjoy one of the new releases now showing or have fun bowling with friends. Passes are checked out for seven days. There is not a limit to the number of times you can come to the library and check out a pass; however, they cannot be renewed and must be given to the theater or bowling center at the time of use. Summer Reading for Teens
Teen Reading Logs
Monday, June 14th through Friday, August 13th
Teen Summer Reading logs are available to pick up at the library or print from our website! Simply mark a circle for every fifteen minutes you read, and return your completed log to the library. You can return up to five logs, and each one earns you an entry in our grand prize drawing at the end of summer! Prizes include hammocks, gift cards, giant candy, tortilla blankets, unicorns, swim passes, and much more!
Dungeons & Dragons Night
Tuesday, June 22nd (Hawesville) & Tuesday, June 29th (Lewisport)
Join us for another summer of heroic adventure as we play the classic fantasy roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons!
This year’s summer reading theme is “Tails and Tales”, and the core of D&D is just that: telling tales. It’s you and your friends telling a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more.
No experience is needed, and new players are welcome! Dice and other supplies will be provided, as well as pizza! For ages 13–18. Spots are limited and pre-registration is required. Please call (270) 927-6760 or for more information and to reserve a seat.
Teen Advisory Group
Beginning Tuesday, July 6th
Teen Advisory Group is a council of high schoolers that have a hands-on role in making the library a teen-friendly space in our community. Members will earn community service hours while helping to plan the types of events and programs that they are passionate about. And yes: there will be food!
TAG is a great way to meet new friends, be heard, and showcase your interests. It also looks great on college applications and résumés!
Meetings will be held at 3:30pm on the first Tuesday of every month. The June meeting will be at the Hawesville Library. It’s possible that we will alternate meeting locations as the group becomes active. Summer Reading for Adults: Adult Reading Logs
Our popular reading logs are back for the summer! Keep track of your reading, and turn in your log for a chance to win a prize! Each log is 10 hours of reading, separated into 15-minute increments. All you have to do is fill in each circle as you read.
Once you have finished your log, turn it in and it will be entered into the prize drawing. You may turn in up to 5 logs. Here is a sampling of some of the prizes we will offer: Coleman 50-quart cooler with wheels, a hammock, various outdoor games, swim passes, and more! Reading logs go out on June 14th, and you will have until August 13th to turn them in.
Take-and-Make Kits
Look forward to bringing home fun crafts to do at home this summer! At each location on selected dates, Take-and-Make Kits will be available for pickup! There will be no holds on these items. Kits typically go quickly, and we have limited kits available, so please only limit one kit per person. Porch drop-off is available for those who need it. Please call 270-927-6760 and ask for Emily for more information. Kits will go out on Mondays.

If your child hasn’t colored their picture of the new Lewisport Branch, there’s still time! Due Date for Masterpiece Mural Coloring Sheets is June 21st!
Summer Storytime
Storytime in-person is back! Summer Reading begins June 14th and runs through July 28th. Our theme this year is Tails and Tales! Due to staffing, moving, and other restrictions, we’re offering Story Time a little differently.
We’re offering limited seating and it’s important to register your child. Call the Hawesville Library to register for either location.
We’ll be having it at Hawesville on June 14, 21, 28 with two time slots and limited seats for each age group. Babies (birth up to 24 months) 9;30am and 12:00pm, Toddlers (2–3-year-olds) 10:15 and 1:00pm, Pre-K (4–5-year-olds) 11:00am and 1:45pm. We’ll be offering the same slots, times, and age groups at the Lewisport Branch on July 7, 14, 21.
Activities provided during Story Time include: Reading two stories, Songs/fingerplays, Activity, Craft, and a Snack to-go! Ms. Savannah has some fun activities planned! We know that you’ll arrive ready to put on your listening ears, listening eyes, and give your full attention so you don’t miss any of the fun!
Children’s Reading Logs
For our library friends that are 5th grade and under, we’re offering Weekly Scavenger Hunts. If you complete a scavenger hunt, you can turn it in for a finisher prize each week. Each scavenger hunt turned in counts as an entry for “grand” prizes such as Frisbees, T-shirts, Bubble wands, swim passes, Sidewalk chalk, and MORE!

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it’s only natural to be skeptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. But what if, for once, the predictions are right, and the apocalypse really is due to arrive next Saturday, just after tea?
You could spend the time left drowning your sorrows, giving away all your possessions in preparation for the rapture, or laughing it off as (hopefully) just another hoax. Or you could just try to do something about it.
It’s a predicament that Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a fast-living demon now finds themselves in. They’ve been living amongst Earth’s mortals since The Beginning and, truth be told, have grown rather fond of the lifestyle and, in all honesty, are not actually looking forward to the coming Apocalypse.
They are joined in their quest to prevent the End Times by a pragmatic witch named Anathema Device (descended from the world’s only 100% accurate fortune-teller) and an in-over-his-head witchfinder, Newt Pulcifer (descended from the same witchfinder who burned Anathema’s ancestor at the stake).
Opposing them are the forces of Heaven and Hell alike, including an order of scatterbrained Satanic nuns, telemarketers, Hell’s Angels, and the Riders of the Apocalypse: Death, Famine, Pollution (Pestilence retired in 1936) and War.
What’s worse, though: someone appears to have misplaced the Antichrist. Due to an unfortunate mix-up at the hospital, the American diplomat’s child that everyone believes to be the Harbinger of the End Times is actually … just a child. The real Antichrist is a slightly overimaginative eleven-year-old boy living an ordinary life in suburban England.
Good Omens is good, tongue-in-cheek fun — essentially The Omen if the forces of evil were completely inept. Pratchett and Gaiman make a wonderful team, and, despite it being a comedy, they manage to pack Good Omens with a surprising amount of heart.
