Accident Reports

A two-vehicle accident injured no one on August 24. The accident happened at 1987 state Route 3543, five miles west of Hawesville. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. Matthew Hudson, of Chrisney, Ind. pulled into a parking lot in his 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, stopped his truck and went to back into a parking spot. Brandon C. Roper, of Tell City, Ind. followed behind in his 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, and stopped behind the truck. Hudson failed to see Roper’s car behind him and backed into the car.
Hudson’s truck sustained very minor damage. Roper’s car sustained moderate damage. Neither vehicle required a tow.
Dodge Rams Civic
No one suffered injury when a Dodge Ram hit the back of a Honda Civic at the intersection of state Route 1957 and U.S. 60. The accident happened on August 24 at approximately 7:18 a.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Emmick filed the accident report.
Chad Logsdon, of Lewisport, pulled up to the intersection of state Route 1957 and U.S. 60 in his 2013 Honda Civic, waiting to merge onto U.S. 60. He pulled forward but stopped again due to oncoming traffic. Jason a. Ballard, of Hawesville, followed behind in a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Ballard said he noticed Logsdon’s car pull forward, so he also pulled forward. Ballard said he did not notice Logsdon’s car stopped again for oncoming traffic, and drove into the back of the car.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Neither vehicle required a tow.
Pickup backs into semi
A pickup truck backing onto state Route 1406 at Domtar backed into a passing semi. The accident happened at approximately 11 a.m. on August 22. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy BJ Burton filed the accident report.
According to Burton’s report, Scott A. McCubbins of Hardinsburg, KY backed his 2015 Chevrolet Colorado onto Willamette Road (state Route 1406) and failed to see an oncoming semi, and backed into it.
William R. Harper, of Owensboro, was driving a 2014 Freightliner semi owned by GN Excavating. Harper said as he drove west on Willamette Road, he felt the truck move from the Colorado backing into the right side of the semi trailer, and stopped.
The Colorado sustained very severe damage, but did not require a tow. The semi sustained minor to moderate damage. It also did not require a tow.
Honda hits Focus
An Indiana woman suffered injury in an accident at the intersection of state Route 657 and U.S. 60 in Lewisport. The accident happened on August 19 at 3:30 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Shelbie L. Humphrey of Tell City, Ind. was traveling west on U.S. 60 in a 2009 Ford Focus RS, and came to the intersection with state Route 657. As she drove through the intersection a car came through the intersection and smashed into the side of her car.
Dillon Eckles told Hendrick as he approached the intersection headed north on state Route 657 in his 2014 Honda Civic, a semi in front of him went through the light, so he followed the truck through the intersection, though the light was red. He hit the driver’s side of Humphrey’s Focus, knocking her vehicle off the road and into the ditch on the north side of U.S. 60. His vehicle came to rest on the north side of the intersection.
Hancock County EMS responded to the scene to provide first aid. Humphrey suffered various injuries, and Hancock County EMS transported her to Owensboro health Regional Hospital for additional treatment.
Both vehicles sustained very severe damage. A wrecker from Bob’s Garage towed the vehicles.
