Hwy 60 Widening to Resume April 3rd – Expect Traffic Delays & Lane Closures April 3rd-September 30th

Yager Materials in Owensboro was contracted by the KY Transportation Cabinet to widen Hwy 60 from just east of the entrance at Vastwood Park to 1957, and work started in mid-April of last year.

Traffic returned to a 4-lane and resumed normal patterns beginning Thursday, November 9th, 2023 due to weather and temperature variances, and starting on Wednesday night, April 3rd, Hwy 60 will go back to a 2-lane and work will resume. (*Signage in some areas is now reporting Friday, April 5th for the start date.)

Work will occur daily from Wednesday, April 3rd through Monday, September 30th, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The project will stretch from milepost 4.5 at John Pate Road to milepost 9.6 at KY 3101. Both westbound lanes will be closed until the work is completed. The passing lane on the eastbound side will be used for westbound traffic.

Anticipate Delays/Adhere to Posted Signage

KYTC Highway District 2 advises motorists to plan their routes accordingly, anticipate delays and adhere to all posted signage and instructions within the work zone. The work will involve removal and repairing of existing roadway, widening measures to accommodate increased traffic flow, and ensuring safer travel conditions.
