Tiffany’s Timeless Treasures

Tiffany Abbott at her shop – Tiffany’s Timeless Treasures, in her home in Hawesville, where she and husband, Josh, create beautiful wooden, laser engraved gift items.

Tiffany’s Timeless Treasures, in Hawesville, offers wooden, laser engraved items such as ornaments, signs, door hangers, cutting boards, refrigerator magnets, and more, as well as fulfilling custom orders such as for photo engraving.

Josh & Tiffany Abbott, husband and wife, work together in their family business. He does custom woodworking pieces, such as children’s chairs and toys, and Tiffany creates the other gift items and operates the engraving machine in the lower level of their home. Their store for customers to visit, is located in the upper level.

“We actually just opened the store last week,” she said. “We’ve done online for about a year. We do laser engraved gifts. Our favorite thing to do is custom gifts, when someone comes to us and says [for instance], ‘I have an uncle who likes this and this is his name, can you put something together?’ We like that. We do a lot of signs and door hangers, anything that we can engrave. All of our products are wooden. I do the engraving in my basement where it has better ventilation so that customers don’t breathe that in.”

Tiffany began the engraving business when she stopped working to homeschool their youngest son, Noah, she said. “I needed something to do to make a little bit more money and, at the time, I was making wreaths,” she said, “but there were so many wreath makers around here, it was hard to make any money. I had a customer request a photo in their wreath of their loved one for a cemetery. I knew it was something that was going to need to stand up over time and weather, and I had ordered one. It cost a ton, and I thought, ‘Maybe I could do it cheaper. Maybe I could make it a little more affordable and something that other people would like…and they really have.”

Josh creates their bigger wooden products, such as draft chairs for small children and wooden animals, such as elephants. He has been woodworking for ten years, and fashions custom pieces that you cannot find at any store. “He really likes doing vintage toys,” she said, “and then sometimes I can engrave them with the birth facts or something like that. We do a lot of custom photo engraving. That’s a big thing people like. If they have a handwritten recipe from a loved one, I can remove the background and engrave that right on the cutting board.”

Tiffany said she can also engrave a house number or address onto signage for in front of your home. The items people like the most, she said, are the custom engraved Christmas ornaments and photo ornaments. “We do the custom family ornaments with the individual names on them,” she said. “That is a huge thing. From now until Christmas, we get very busy making Christmas ornaments, personalized ornaments and the photo ornaments.”

She said she will also be making ornaments to sell at the Back the Blue BBQ event on October 14th at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds to support Tell City Police Department (TCPD) and honor fallen officers such as Sergeant Heather Glenn. All of the proceeds will be donated to support the TCPD and cover travel expenses for the department to honor Sgt. Glenn in Washington, D.C. next year.

She said she feels good about the business and its future. “We’re doing well so far,” she said. “We just look forward to seeing everyone and seeing what we can come up with for you.”This month makes 14 years of marriage for Josh & Tiffany. He is the Infrastructure (IT) Manager for Commonwealth Rolled Products. They are blessed with 5 children, four are adults now.
