Independence Day Celebration at Vastwood Park; TUESDAY, July 4th
The Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration at Vastwood Park will be on Tuesday, July 4th. The fireworks display will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be provided by the company Pyro Shows. The event is sponsored by Hancock County Fiscal Court.
Music
From 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., the Tailgate Band will be performing classic rock and contemporary country music. From 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Caribou, a 60s, 70s & 80s rock band, will perform.

Free Inflatables
There will be FREE inflatables from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. One of the inflatables is a large obstacle course. There will be two bounce houses this year. One of the bounce houses will be designated for children with special needs. Autism Advocates of Hancock County has arranged for there to be an area set aside for the special needs bounce house, along with volunteers to help out.
Food
Roll Tide BBQ, Galaxy, Los Amigos Mexican, Hello Pop, Anita Arison’s Sunny Days Food Truck, The Coalition For Life’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream and more will be there offering their delicious foods for sale.
Competition
Independence Bank is sponsoring a Speed Pitch Competition open to adults & children, and it begins at 5:00 p.m. Wade Gaynor, President of the Hawesville branch of Independence Bank, is organizing the event. “We will be setup at the little league field with a radar gun for anyone that wants to throw 3 pitches,” he said. “We will have prizes for everyone who competes.”
One-Way Traffic
One-way traffic for the Independence Day Celebration begins at 4:00 p.m. Vehicles will be able to enter the Park at the Hwy 60 entrance only, and exit via the Park Road/1847 entrance.
