Betty Sue Samples

Betty Sue Samples, 68, passed away suddenly on May 28, 2023, following a few years of health problems. Betty was born January 27, 1955, in Hardinsburg, KY to James Henderson and the late Dorothy Smith Henderson.

Betty had a “green thumb” and could grow and have about anything thrive under her care, even if things happened and she was unable to care for them for long periods of time. Cooking
was one of her many talents, and when she cooked, she cooked enough for an army. She loved going places, especially if it was to eat out. She would be willing to go anywhere any time and
have a meal, even if she had leftovers in the refrigerator. One of her joys was watching and taking care of her birds.

Reading was also one of her passions, and she enjoyed reading about the Amish and their way of life. Betty worked for many years as a person who would sit and care for many others and was in great demand because of her caring nature. Nothing can be said or written about Betty without mentioning the love and adoration she had for her pride and joy, her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.

Preceding Betty in death is her mother, Dorothy Smith Henderson; husband, Jonathon Samples; infant brother, Ronald Henderson.

Leaving behind to mourn her passing, but celebrating the life that she lived and that they had the privilege of sharing is her loving daughter, Dartha (Brandal) Cartwright, Hawesville; brother, Gordon Henderson and the love of his life, Pam Shelton, Owensboro; sisters, Patsy (Mitchell) Sebastian, Falls of the Rough, Sharon Henderson, Hardinsburg, Elizabeth (Bill) Longest, Lexington, IN, Janet (Tasso) Baris, Clearwater, FL; the love of her life, her grandchildren, Keaton and Ashton Cartwright.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held, 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Cloverport Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kenny Shepherd officiating. Per Betty’s request, cremation will be awarded after the service. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am until service time. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that perennial flowers be used to plant
around Betty’s monument.

Cloverport Funeral Home is honored to assist the family of Betty Samples at this very difficult time.
